    Manufacturing Engineer

     

     

    The Manufacturing Engineer will plan, coordinate, and execute activities and will be responsible for pre-production program support relative to the assigned plant to ensure implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. This position will report to the Quality Manager.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Participate in manufacturing and automation projects, including creating and updating action plans/reports.
    • Conduct new product and process flow analysis and implement improvements for costs, manufacturability, and quality.
    • Coordinate with design engineers with respect to product development and improvement.
    • Schedule and attend meetings to review prints, monitor tool/assembly equipment progress and prototypes.
    • Coordinate with outside tool shops/vendors in the purchase or modification of tooling and equipment. Monitor gauge progress, process validation/tool tryout.
    • Participate in APQP activities as assigned. Create PFMEA, Control Plans, Flow Charts, QFD, etc. as required. Execute final PPAP submission.
    • Verify certifications, support IPSO and Run at Rates, capability studies.
    • Supports Program Management generated project macro-schedules by developing and driving timelines with detailed micro-schedules to ensure that all Quality related launch project milestones are tracked and completed on time.
    • Interface with customers as required regarding program launch activities to assure the manufacturability of quality parts.

     

    Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or related field and/or equivalent combination of education with 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing support role.
    • Experienced manufacturing professional in the automotive sector, with strong knowledge of quality systems and engineering principles and practices strongly preferred.
    • Candidates with project management skills strongly preferred.
    • Experience in injection molding strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency in and the ability to model and implement the following concepts: empowerment and teamwork, kaizen, standardized work, PDCA and 5 Why problem solving, 5S, process improvement tools, IMDS, AIAG core tools.
    • Possess knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, SPC, GD&T, production control methods, best practices in engineering controls, industrial time study techniques
    • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles are a plus
    • Must have ability to monitor and administer program design projects
    • Possess excellent analytical skills, with the ability to read, interpret and develop statistical reports and calculations
    • Have ability to collaborate with all departments and personnel to ensure effective teamwork and assist in the effective and efficient execution of pre-production support requirements.
    • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals that align with the company’s vision.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management.

    Physical Requirements:

     

    • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop and sit.
    • Must lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
    • Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures & perform work indoors/outdoors as needed.
