    The Quality Engineer will plan, organize and coordinate all of the plant’s quality activities and will be responsible for programs relative to the assigned plant to ensure implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. This position will report to the Quality Manager.


    • Train quality inspectors, developing their product knowledge and improving their work duties on their respective shifts
    • Work with quality department and plant SPC facilitator to help implement and develop statistical methods of process control and improvement ensuring the processes are intact and procedures are followed on a daily basis
    • Final decision maker regarding quality standards
    • Read blueprints, specifications and control plans to ensure that specifications, standard processes and operations are being maintained and that due care in the manufacture of the product is being maintained
    • Audit quality system insuring adherence to Quality Manual procedures
    • Evaluate causes of scrap and work toward the elimination of such defects
    • Lead and direct associates on quality standards
    • Develop and implement new and/or improved quality systems and/or procedures
    • Review new job notices and quotes
    • Develop timeline
    • Schedule and attend meetings to review prints, ensure packaging is available, develop Fab 5 documents, monitor tool/assembly equipment progress and build prototypes
    • Interface with customers regarding program launches and continuation of manufacture of quality parts
    • Monitor gauge progress. Verify certification, layout parts and capability studies. 



    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Qualified candidates will possess 3-5 years of experience in quality and program management
    • Highly experienced manufacturing professional, preferably in the automotive sector, with strong knowledge of quality and engineering principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in and the ability to model and implement the following concepts: empowerment and teamwork; TPS leadership philosophy and human resources practices; kaizen; standardized work; PDCA and problem solving; 5S; quality improvement tools; JIT production tools including: Value Stream Mapping, lead-time reduction, set-up time reduction, process flow improvement, small lot production, heijunka, and Kanban
    • Possess knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, production control methods, best practices in engineering controls, industrial time study techniques
    • Must have ability to monitor and administer program design projects
    • Possess excellent analytical skills, with the ability to read, interpret and develop statistical reports and calculations
    • Have ability to work with all departments and ensure effective teamwork, equipment and personnel to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the system
    • Ability to budget and follow-up on various costs related to the quality department; manage related cost of operations
    • Ability to use experience and judgment to plan and accomplish the goals of the plant and corporation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of management 


    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop and sit.
    • Must lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
    • Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures & perform work indoors/outdoors as needed.
