    Responsibilities

    • Be the functional/technical expert and Compliance System Owner for the enterprise in the field of occupational health & safety (OH&S).
    • Develop standards, tools, baseline metrics and sponsor effective knowledge sharing.
    • Steward processes that facilitate proactive identification of OH&S hazards & risks and propose controls to the organization. Exercise prudent judgment in recommending and selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for the OH&S issues under consideration.
    • Ability to effectively influence and align teams at all levels across the enterprise without explicit authority
    • Drive a safety-first culture and facilitate change consistent with the company’s risk philosophy
    • Develop, prioritize and implement cross-site improvement initiatives that are informed by audits, self-assessments, technical and peer reviews, regulatory performance and relevant external drivers.
    • Develop audit and assurance strategies and provide analysis.
    • Track relevant emerging issues, develop an informed point of view and provide guidance to the enterprise regarding path forward.
    • Lead and nurture global Communities of Practice, mentoring colleagues to strengthen OH&S competency within the global organization.
    • Build competency of site-based professionals through training, mentoring and Communities of Practice supporting all regions globally
    • Support the EHS capability in solving complex OH&S issues
    • Provide OH&S leadership during capital construction projects, mentor site leaders, support effective job hazard analyses pre-construction and during construction
    • Build capability in the area of investigations and cause mapping

     

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • University/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • Minimum of 15 years of related experience; including 10+ years of leadership experience as a supervisor or equivalent
    • Ability to work in virtual cross-regional and cross-functional teams, translate complex situations into simple working solutions, collaborate with all levels of management and influence decision-making across a matrix organization
    • Strong knowledge of behavioral based safety strategy and implementation methods
    • Capable of establishing effective relationships and interfaces with key partners, customers and stakeholders

    Preferred Skills and/or Experience:

    • Master’s degree and/or safety related certification
    • CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist) certification
    • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification
    • Ergonomics and/or Industrial Hygiene program understanding
    • Experience with or exposure to global program development/deployment/initiation
