    This position is at the forefront of research and development for Glass Technology. The ideal candidate will have a technical or engineering background coupled with a manufacturing process development expertise. The selected individual will become a design and process expert for the target product line. This expertise will be utilized for optimizing the product, designing and implementing product improvements, technical support during continued scale-up, and on-going product and process development.

    Responsibilities & Expectations

    • Understand both product and process requirements for the product line.
    • Define, execute, and analyze development plans for product and process design.
    • Develop test methods and equipment to support test plans.
    • Execute test plans and provide testing support as needed.
    • Utilize statistical analysis to develop experimental conclusions and provide recommendations to senior leaders.
    • Brainstorm new designs, create prototyping, and perform physical testing of design concepts.
    • Determine new or improved methods to manufacture components.
    • Complete cost analysis and capital plans to implement product and process changes.
    • Implement methods to track quality and productivity yields of installed processes.
    • Integrate knowledge developed into FMEAs and control plans to ensure future product quality.
    • Work with production to implement and support product and process improvements.

    • Facilitate testing with domestic and international test facilities


    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or other related engineering fields and 2-5 years industrial experience.
    • Knowledge of various manufacturing methods.
    • Experience with Product Development & Design
    • Understanding of and knowledge of practical use of lean manufacturing concepts and experience implementing continuous Improvement
