    Environmental Engineering Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate day-to-day hazardous waste management activities including but not limited to: inspections, labeling and marking, off-site disposal, sampling, analysis and manifesting.

    • Completing all required waste management reports.

    • Implementing waste contingency and minimization program plans, and coordinate responses to spills of hazardous waste

    • Ensure training is conducted and completed for all individuals involved in hazardous waste management, and overall ensure compliance of the Hazardous Waste Management program for the plant.

    • Identify and implement new or changes in environmental laws/ regulations which have a direct affect on hazardous waste compliance.


    • Environmental Engineering Requirements:

    •  Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a closely related discipline

    • A minimum of 5 years experience in hazardous waste management.

    • Minimum of 5 years working in a fast pace, high-pressure, manufacturing environment.

    • MUST HAVE knowledge of California and Federal regulations covering hazardous waste , air pollution (Title-5), water discharge, hazardous material management, and Department of Transportation regulations.


    • Knowledge of the following:

      • Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA)

      • Federal Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA)

      • California Clean Air (CCAA)

      • Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA)

      • California Air Toxics and Hot Spots Act of 1987 (AB2588)

      • Water Bills (i.e. California Business Plan)

      • California Proposition 65

      • Federal Clean Water Act (CWA)

      • California drinking water regulations (CCR Title 22)


    Health and Safety Administration Responsibilities:

    The responsibilities in the Health and Safety arena include ensuring a safe working environment, as well as being a resource to managers, supervisors, and plant personnel requiring an individual who fosters excellent working relationships and cooperation with all levels of the workforce and management. Strong verbal and written communication skills will be necessary, as the role will be reviewing, evaluating, and examining work environments, as well as designing programs and procedures to control and reduce work related injuries / illnesses.

    • Coordination and administration of company safety programs, including but not limited to the Injury and Illness Prevention Programs (IIPP), Hazard Communications, first aid, and Return to Work Programs.

    • Will develop tools or methods to understand plant culture and build strategies to close gaps in organizational or personal risk tolerance.

    • Will provide coaching and mentoring to facilitate “ownership for safety” at the line level, as well as conduct thorough and comprehensive accident / incident investigations and follow up.

    • Will assess safety issues and if necessary, develop both short and long-term solutions to build effective programs.

    • Will develop systems or methods to identify hazards, and evaluating risk in existing and future equipment, processes, operations (i.e. risk assessments, near misses, etc.).

    • Will develop short and long term Health and Safety strategies which integrate safety performance into the facility’s day-to-day operation.

    • Will evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety trends, and check or adjust methods, systems, and strategies accordingly.

    • Will monitor compliance with Guardian’s Health and Safety Standards and Best Practices.


    • Health and Safety Administration Requirements: 

    • Must have knowledge of and familiarity with successful safety programs, policies, and procedures, workers compensation, and with Fed and Cal / OSHA regulations.

    • Must have the ability to write complex correspondence, policies, and procedures.

    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is desired.
