    Europe Operations Excellence Director (OpEx)

    Responsibilities

    Advancing our MBM® Culture.

    Responsibility: Personal leadership for developing a culture in which all employees’ behavior is consistent with our MBM guiding principles, and our MBM Framework, Principles and tools are utilized to get better results

          Expectations:

    • Understand, apply and mentor MBM
    • Role Model the MBM Guiding Principles, Role of the Supervisor and our Guardian Leader Expectations through demonstrated application.
    • Ensure MBM mental models, and problem-solving tools are used on our most challenging issues.

    Developing a Regional Operations Excellence Team

    Responsibility: Personal leadership for developing a team with the right virtues and talents to provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to the European Plants

          Expectations:

    • Develop a sustainable and capable team that can achieve the regions goals and objectives.
    • Build a regional talent pool for future growth opportunities (key roles)

    Application of our Operations Excellence

    Responsibility: Create value though developing OpEx Team and Plant Teams capability to apply our OpEx Framework (Safety, Environmental, Reliability, Conduct of Operations, Quality, Energy, Cost and Capital effectiveness) to develop improved Plant Operating performance.

          Expectations:

    • Provide the appropriate oversight to better define value creation opportunities and prioritize through internal and external benchmarking;
          • Assess health and performance of Plant equipment, management systems, standards and practices
    • Leverage our knowledge globally and apply locally through proven practices (OpEx Framework and Guardian Proven Practices)
          • Continually learn from events (RCA)
          • Support development and application of valued proven practices
    • Support the Plants by leveraging Operations Excellence resources
          • Work as an integrated Team with Plant Operations, Engineering Excellence, Science and Technology Center and Commercial Teams on operating improvement, projects and process and product development.
          • Application of Conduct of Operations to develop improved Plant capability to develop sustainable work processes and manage variance (from an art to a procedure, and disciplined processes to improve and reduce firefighting)

    The position will report to the Guardian Glass Global Operations Director, have approximately 8 direct reports and will ideally be based in Luxembourg.  

     

    Profile:

    • Engineering Degree, technical background is required
    • Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in Operations leadership (Operations Line Supervision and Management, Technical, Engineering and Maintenance roles)
    • Knowledge of flat glass manufacturing, technologies and industry is an asset
    • Supervisory experience is required
    • Ability to lead cross-functional groups on operating improvement projects
    • Ability to drive improvements without direct reporting relationships
    • Readiness to travel 50% up to 75% of the time
