    Opportunity and Strategic Vision:

    Developing a robust, strategic Capital Project Scheduling capability has been identified as mission critical in Guardian’s success in its drive for growth through innovation.  The Guardian Engineering and Capital Projects team recognizes that the Project Scheduling function is a critical tool in communicating what work needs to be performed, which resources will perform the work, and the timeframes in which that work needs to be performed. Guardian therefor is committed to strengthening its Project Phase and Scheduling Process, in developing healthier projects—especially through solid Front End Loading (FEL) practices. 


    The main project objectives of the Strategic Capital Project Scheduler are:


    1.  To develop project schedules in the manner ascribed by the Project Phase Process, so that they are developed starting in Phase 2, and progress in development for Phase 3 (Full Funding) and into the Execution Phases (4-7).
    2. Develop Project Schedule metrics to gauge the health of the schedule and the progression of the project timeline.
    3. Development of starter templates for CTR and common/repeated work.
    4. Consistency in scheduling across the Guardian fleet.
    5. Provide a platform for capturing baseline performance data (benchmarking) that will be used to improve ongoing performance.
    6. Become the SME for driving Project Scheduling excellence globally across the Guardian enterprise




    Responsibilities & Expectations

    • Central Corporate resource for developing, implementing and maintaining a project scheduling system to ensure competent, efficient and timely execution of capital projects in accordance with the company’s project control standards and procedures, industry best practices, and individual contractual requirements.
    • Develop, implement and maintain project schedules in early project phase processes (Phase 1 through Phase 3).
    • Coordinate with regional Project Teams to support the project execution phases (Phase 4 through Phase 7); help coordinate local scheduling assistance; and work with vendors and contractors to set expectations for schedules they produce.
    • Assist project teams in the development of capital project schedules.
    • Assist project teams in the analysis of project schedule health and metrics.
    • Develop schedule templates and procedures to use across similar project (i.e., CTRs).
    • Maintain project schedule database.
    • Assist in the project benchmarking process.
    • Assist in the development of project financial reporting, including project schedule metrics.
    • Assist in the development and help lead training on project scheduling to the global organization

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • 10 -15 years’ experience in project scheduling in an industrial, capital intensive business, working with project work processes in a phased project work system.
    • Experience in developing Capital Project schedules.
    • Skills include proficiency in Primavera P6, and Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Good interpersonal relationships skills.

    Preferred Skills

    • Previous experience with both large capital projects (>$100 MM) and small capital projects.
    • Previous experience in developing project scheduling systems.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or project management
    • Familiarity with IPA, CII, and PMI
