EGP is a manufacturer on the South Side of Chicago (Bridgeport/Chinatown area) that fabricates glass for the appliance, sports lighting and electronic markets. The company is going through some major changes as we are migrating our systems to our parent company (Guardian). In addition, the company’s focus will be moving to various products in the electronics market, which will require new financial reporting processes. This role is viewed not only as a “bookkeeper” but one that will aid the controller in driving financial change. The individual will aid the controller in strategic projects such as 5 year strategic plan and annual budget. The role will be heavily involved in the various system migrations as well as performing various tasks for monthly close. A big plus requested for this role is some experience with inventory management. Any individual that has experience with ERP systems using standard costing is considered a top candidate. Past experience has shown finding an individual that can perform both cost accounting and financial accounting for all areas outside of inventory is hard to find. Primary focus is to find a senior account that can perform all financial close functions outside of inventory. If they any cost accounting/inventory experience this is considered a huge plus.


Detailed Description

Position reports to the controller of EGP. No individuals report to this position.  Essential Functions:

Month-End Close Function – Work with Controller to:

  • Close/Reconcile Cash, Fixed Assets, CIP, payroll accruals, other accruals.
  • Calculate monthly commissions
  • Manage fixed asset reporting system.
  • Provide monthly reporting and analysis for sales and various expenses
  • Reconcile Intercompany activity
  • Aid Controller in monthly financial reporting to management.
  • Ability to aid controller in inventory analysis a plus (i.e. variance analysis, physical inventory)


                Other Responsibilities

  • Involvement in various system migrations and financial process changes throughout the year.
  • Help with 5 year strategic plans and annual budget.
  • Work with controller on new financial reporting initiatives
  • Aid controller on various financial analysis projects as deemed necessary by management.
  • Prepare reports needed by Guardian in areas of sales tax, corporate tax return preparation, regulatory compliance.
  • Set up ACH, wire transfers on EGP’s bank account website.
  • Work with A/P clerk on weekly check runs, including uploading check files in EGP’s bank account website.
