Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities:

    • Become in-house SME on existing optical measurement testing/instrument, establish and maintain knowledge of latest technological/scientific trends
    • Actively seek/develop new/improve existing optical test methodology to enhance product development efficiency and plant QA/QC methodology
    • Guide and support technician on maintaining and troubleshooting optical equipment such as UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometers and ellipsometers, FTIR, haze and gloss meters.
    • Work with R&D scientists to analyze data and troubleshoot any issues with products or lab instrumentation/equipment.
    • Work with corporate and plant QC teams on test, setup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and failure analysis as needed.

Requirements:

    • B.S. in Optics, Optical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Analytical Chemistry, Paint and Coatings Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Chemical Engineering and 10+ yrs, or M.S. & 5-10 yrs, or Ph.D. & 3-5 yrs of industrial experience.
    • Good understanding of a broad range of spectroscopic techniques with experience using (UV-VIS-NIR) spectrophotometers, FTIR, colorimeters, haze meters, and gloss meters.
    • Knowledgeable in applied quality control methods such as SPC, control charting, gage R&Rs,
    • Hands-on experience with test method verification and validation.
    • Working knowledge of thin films, optical glass, and microscopic material characterization techniques such as TEM, SEM, AFM. Experience of XRD, XRF, XPS would be a plus.
    • Strong computer skills are required. Some programming experience such as Visual Basic in Excel is preferred.
    • Innovative problem-solving skills and good prioritization skills
