Guardian Glass is Guardian’s largest business and one of the world’s largest manufacturers of float, value-added and fabricated glass products and solutions. At our 25 float plants located around the globe, Guardian Glass produces high performance glass for architectural, residential, interior, transportation and technical glass applications. 

As a Project (Mechanical) Engineer, the purpose of your role is to ensure the conditions necessary for the continuous operation of fabrication equipment; to coordinate the engineering for the projects.

Responsibilities

Main tasks:

  • To check the appropriate quantitative and qualitative compliance of materials and services received.
  • To coordinate machinery maintenance works of the production areas under his control, monitor maintenance needs, and inspect the work of internal maintenance people.
  • To determine on the basis of ongoing activities the tasks of the areas, check the execution thereof, and monitor costs.
  • To participate in the selection of suppliers; in preparing, supplementing and revising instructions concerning the production field. To keep records of orders, prepare the invoices thereof, supervise payments and keep consumption statistics.
  • Take part in developing the development and modification program of the plant; coordinate the commissioning of new machines and equipment.
  • To organize, manage and control the cost effective operation of the area under his control.   

  • to ensure the company’s energy needs (water, natural gas, electricity, air, fluid butane gas, oxygen, nitrogen and other water systems) and to operate the equipment needed for them,
  • the proper professional preparations for the installation of new equipments, as well as the accident-free performance of the installation.
  • to continuously decrease non-scheduled downtimes due to technical reasons,
  • to decrease scheduled downtimes by engineering solutions,

Responsibilities:

  • The compliance with labor safety rules and having them complied with by both the employees of the company and outside suppliers,
  • Complying with legal regulations as well as ISO and other internal guidelines, standards and rules and having them complied with,
  • ensuring the energy supply of the company and the operation of the units while serving the requirements of production in the maximum way,
  • preserving and continuously maintaining the technical condition of the technical equipment he is in charge of,
  • managing spare parts / (back-up) materials in his area, ensuring continuous availability and quantity optimization,
  • accomplishing project and maintenance works by deadline and rationally utilizing available resources, as well as for the quality of works,
  • increasing efficiency in his area and for optimal cost management,
  • observing professional aspects, quality requirements and the company’s values and norms,
  • conveying information come to his knowledge concerning the company and necessary for managerial decisions

Profile:

  • Knowledge of potential suppliers
  • Automotive engineering skills
  • Mechanical engineering skills
  • Graduate of higher technical education (mechanical engineer)
  • 2-3 years of professional experience
  • At least intermediate level in Hungarian and English, both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of design and technical standards
  • User level IT knowledge (MS Office, integrated IT systems)
  • Solution focused approach
  • Self-development attitude

  • Project management
